CASINO RELOCATION and EXPANSION PROJECT

Notice of Availability (NOA) of the Draft Tribal Environmental Impact Statement for the Sherwood Valley Rancheria Casino Relocation and Expansion Project. The draft TEIS was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Sherwood Valley Rancheria Environmental Ordinance, the Compact between the Tribe and the State of California, and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The first public meeting on the scope of the Tribal Environmental Statement (TEIS) was held on Thursday, December 13 at the Willits City Council chambers. The Tribe was represented by the Chairman and 2 members of the Tribal Council and the construction consultants. Representatives from the City of Willits and the County of Mendocino were among the 25 in attendance. The environmental consultants gave an overview of the environmental review process, and comparisons of NEPA, CEQA, and the SVR Tribal Environmental Ordinance. The Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare a Draft Tribal Environmental Impact Statement was mailed on November 15, 2007 to residents, governmental agencies and interested parties in the Willits area.
